History

Text Box:

Let Jesus be exalted, the Rock of my salvation!

Cornerstone Living Church was born on Saturday, 8 June 1996 as “The Rock” Missionary Centre and celebrated its launching service on Sunday, 9 June 1996 in Douala. It has been built according to the Bible model on Jesus Christ, following the vision that Bishop Floribert Mawit received from the Lord.

Indeed, while still at J.T.L. (Jésus-Christ à Toutes Langues – Jesus Christ To All Languages), Bishop Mawit received from the Lord, in 1989, that he has been called to work for Him from a country other than his own; Pastor Venassie Mibenge confirmed this vision in November 1993 in Zambia.

In 1992, the Lord clearly asked the then Pastor Floribert M. Mawit to start a church whose name would be The Rock, yet without specifying the starting date.

But it is in October 1995 that Bishop Mawit would receive from the Lord the command to resign from J.T.L. and start a new ministry with a new vision.

In April 1996, during a visit to Gabon, after many confirmations from the Lord and certain servants of God, Bishop Mawit officially resigned from J.T.L., but he continued to seek God’s direction until June 1996. Finally, on 8 June 1996, the ministry known as “The Rock” Missionary Centre was born, built on the sole foundation that is Jesus Christ, with a clear missionary vision.

On 4 November 2008, "The Rock" Missionary Centre changed its name into Cornerstone Living Church.

Our motto comes from 2 Samuel 22: 47: "Let Jesus be exalted, the Rock of my salvation!"
